Spiritual Awakening

Spiritual awakening can refer to quite a few phenomena and there are varying degrees of awakening. It is possible for a person who has done no spiritual work to have a spontaneous awakening. This type of awakening occurs as a result of a raise in consciousness where the individual becomes aware of realities and parts of themselves that were previously hidden from consciousness. This raise in consciousness can be due to things such as reading something of a spiritual nature that reminds the person of something they have forgotten or have been disconnected from. When something is read that resonates with a person’s soul and their higher knowledge, this higher part can be activated and incarnated. For example, some forces which were previously located outside of the body (not yet incarnated) suddenly enter the person’s energy, thereby raising their consciousness and awakening awareness of this new force. This type of spontaneous incarnation of higher energies can occur due to various life circumstances or occurrences that open the person’s current energy to these higher forces.

Another possibility is that as the person grows up their physical and energetic bodies are naturally becoming ready for this incarnation and it was predestined that at a particular time the energies would incarnate. This type of phenomena actually occurs throughout the lifetime and is the reason for the immense changes in consciousness that occur for everybody as they grow up. For those with children this will be very obvious at the time the child begins speaking. Their is a huge leap from the baby who cannot yet talk to the one that can, and it does not take very much perception to see that a part of the individual that was previously not there has suddenly (maybe over a few day, weeks or months) incarnated. You can actually feel that the weight of the child's energy has increased immensely and now their personality is beginning to bloom.

As well as the incarnation of higher energies in this way, the person’s past-life Samskaras (mental and emotional issues which are a part of the astral body) will begin to incarnate. As the child experiences life there are bound to be many traumas. When a trauma occurs that brings similar feelings to a past life trauma, the negative astral energy associated with the past life will be activated and incarnated into the body. For more information about this please read Astral Substance and The Astral Body. The point here is that both higher Forces of Consciousness as well as negative astral energies incarnate gradually as the child grows up. This incarnation continues for the entire life but for many it slows down immensely at the age of 28. For most people the incarnation of the negative astral energies will have been completed by this time and a solid ego structure formed. For those who do not follow any spiritual practice or meditation technique, their energy will stay much the same after this point. Twenty-eight is said to be the youngest age a person can achieve Enlightenment as before this time the required forces have not yet fully incarnated.

A spontaneous awakening simply means that a part of a person's energy has been awakened or incarnated. This awakening will certainly lead to a leap in consciousness and more spiritual awareness but on its own will not lead to spiritual transformation and incarnation. The energy body of the individual is often left in much the same state and they continue to be enshrouded by the ego. Many people can have an enlightening experience but this doesn’t mean they are Enlightened…a huge awakening and realization yes, but there is still a lot of diligent work to do. Often with an awakening the realization follows that to enjoy higher consciousness and ground your higher aspects is going to require a lot of work to clear all past conditioning and emotional imprints so that the spirit may dwell within the body. In fact, following a spiritual experience there is often a comedown effect. As the higher energies enter the body, the entire energy body's vibration is increased which leads to many subconscious memories and conditioning being dislodged and allowed into consciousness. This can be quite unpleasant. Generally the greater the experience of awakening, the greater the come-down as more subconscious energies are released into consciousness. These released energies need to be cleared and transformed by spiritual practices but often the individual does not have the knowledge to succeed with this.

Sometimes an individual will have a very powerful awakening that they cannot handle. With little knowledge of what is happening to them, and as it is the ego that is experiencing the raise in consciousness, they may enter into psychosis. The individual is feeling immense power and often feels invincible; they feel like they have reached heaven or Enlightenment and often see visions of things like angels and ascended beings. The ego of these individuals does not understand what is happening and can only do its best to understand the various phenomena that they are experiencing. The ego has been “cracked” and as the ego is based in the material world it denies the existence of the spiritual world and has no way to process the experience. As the raise in vibration also dislodges much subconscious material the confusion increases and they end up in a state of psychosis. This type of occurrence usually only happens to someone whose energy is quite open. The ego is likely to have very weak parts and so the energy body and aura have holes or weak spots. With this type of make up a spontaneous awakening can cause far too much voltage to enter the energy bodies leading to the above scenario.

Another way for this type of experience to occur is through drug abuse. As the drugs continually weaken the person’s energy, opening it up to all kinds of forces as well as raising their vibration and connection to higher energies, the possibility of a large scale awakening is greatly increased. The risk of drugs inducing a psychosis such as this is greatly increased with someone who is young (the ego is not yet solid) or if their make-up is like that described above.

The problems faced by people who have these spontaneous awakenings are quite considerable. As the experience was so great, the comedown is going to be massive, often too much to handle and it can go on for many years. Unfortunately after the experience many of these people are convinced by doctors that they were simply having a psychotic episode, everything they experienced was either an illusion or a delusion and that there is no such thing as spiritual awakening. The remedy is to now sedate them and disconnect them from their energetic and physical bodies with anti-depressant, anti-psychotic or anti-anxiety drugs. Of course to the doctor, they are simply fixing the chemical balance in the brain and thereby decreasing the discomfort for the individual, making it possible for them to integrate back into society.

Often the individual will now begin the process of trying to reintegrate their ego which has been exposed as a fraud during the psychosis and badly damaged by the high voltages. This is likely to be a very slow process and they will likely feel depressed, anxious and empty for a very long time. They have experienced firsthand some of the euphoria, power and love of their Higher Self and must accept that it was a delusion and that they will not feel it again in this life.

The best outcome of such an experience would be the knowledge that what they experienced was real, although at the time they were unable to handle or understand it, and that to incarnate these higher forces permanently they will need to work very hard with the appropriate spiritual practices. If this is the outcome their chance of permanent spiritual transformation and incarnation is very high.

Spiritual awakening, spiritual transformation and spiritual incarnation are not the same thing. During the process of spiritual transformation, which is achieved through the practices you will find here, you will have numerous spiritual awakenings. These awakenings will inevitably occur and each will lead to permanent change along with greater clearing of past conditioning and greater spiritual incarnation.

To achieve these ends you need to work on all aspects of your being. The information available here describes many of these aspects, the various energies and forces that make you up and what needs to be transformed. The practices available are for those who want spiritual experiences, awakening and transformation NOW.

Note: The risk of an awakening as described above is very low as you will be strengthening your energy at the same time as awakening and you will have the knowledge and practices needed. I have described the above scenario to give you a greater understanding of various phenomena and also for those who have experienced these things directly. These people are in need of real practices that work.

Love

Love is the cosmic gateway to deeper understanding.
It's forms are many.
Love inspires both bondage and liberation.
It requires deep reflection
and must be experienced first hand.
Love is the great teacher.
Through love, the seeker is guided back to the Source
of all existence.
The Source is all that is real.
That which flows out from it,
flows back to it.

Cycles are endless until they are understood
and thus transcended.
Love is the thread which runs through everything.
Follow the thread of love
toward liberation.

The thread extends beyond the boundaries of time.
It weaves a tapestry through every dimension.
The thread expands outside
the scope of comprehension.

And though the Universe seems to appear
and disappear,
flashing on and off,
through existence and non-existence,
at once real and unreal,
to an invisible heartbeat - love is constant.
The thread forever
unbroken.

And as time is turned upon itself,
unraveling entire histories,
revealing mysteries,
the power of love reigns supreme,
its essence remains Infinite.

Love is the true Messiah
personified throughout time,
through many incarnations,
love is both death and resurrection.
Love is the only true redemption.

RAINBOW

Open World Industries

Ever since I was a little girl I have been able to perceive auras – emanations of energy that I see as color emerging from, around and within a living or apparently none-living being or object. I believe we can all sense this energy, we just do it in varying degrees. So for instance, when you walk into a room full of people you might get a “feeling” of good or bad energy. What you’re doing is deciphering the energy. Well I take it a step further and see the color of that energy and then interpret the color.
By intention I can go even deeper into someone’s soul and see, sense and feel their true essence. We are all made of light and light is color, but because each of us are individuals, our soul light or soul rainbow is a little like your thumbprint. It is made up of colors and patterns that are unique only to you.
I was inspired to paint the energy of a soul onto silk as a way of revealing the heart of a person, but also as an affirmation of the truth of their individuality as a soul. It’s empowering to know which colors are dominant and how those colors blend together. I created a Soul Rainbow silk for myself and I was amazed to find I’d painted a dragonfly. What I didn’t know at the time was that dragonflies are a symbol of color healing and linked to fairies – two energies very close to my heart.
Painting A Soul Rainbow

Once I have the colors I invite my guides and angels to guide me to paint the silk. I ask which color goes first, second, third, etc. Even if I don’t know what I am going to paint I pick up the first color and ask to be inspired. I find that for some people I am shown immediately what the essence of the soul rainbow is before I even start, for others I am shown step by step in quick flashes. So bear this in mind, inspiration can come in different ways.
Before you go through the exercise below, be sure to watch the video. This will give you an idea of how I work and may serve as a support for your own inspiration, insight and intuition. I use silk and silk dyes, but I also work with watercolor paints and other forms of mixed media. Use whatever tools feel right for you.
How To Paint Your Own Soul Rainbow:

Tools: colored pencils, crayons or paints, paper and a pendulum if you use one.
1. Begin by setting up your tools in front of you.

Separate your colors out and have them in piles of reds, oranges, yellows, etc. Then line up all the colors so you’re looking at a spectrum. This will make it easier for you to select the colors for your Soul Rainbow.
color your aura
2. Now bless the area you are working in, call in the light to protect your space.

Make an intention to join with your soul and ask your angels and guides to support you as you as you journey inward to access your soul colors.
3. Close your eyes, take some deep breaths and with each breath you take imagine you are going deeper and deeper into the energy of your soul.

Allow your body to relax, if any area is tense just breath into it and invite it to relax. Take as long as you need to do this. Intuition doesn’t work as well when you’re tense and focused elsewhere.
4. Once you feel relaxed and your mind is focused on your soul, ask your guides and angels to show you the first color.

If you are visual you may see this with your eyes closed, but if you’re not then invite them to guide you to the first color as you open your eyes. Alternatively, use your pendulum to dowse the first color.
This is very subtle energy. What may happen is you will keep being drawn to an area of your colors, and even if you’re resistant to the colors at first, go with what is pulling you in. Once you have your area, narrow it down. Pick a few of the pencils or paints and place them in front of you, then close your eyes again and ask for more guidance. Keep doing this until you have narrowed it down to one color. If you can’t get it down to one color, it may be that your first color is a combination or blend, so just go with that.
* I like to take a photograph of each stage of my painting this helps me remember the details when it comes time to interpret the Soul Rainbow.
5. Now do this again for each color.

You’re going to pick four or five colors, but if your soul wants more or less colors, go with that. Make sure to place your chosen colors in a line so you remember what their placement is.
6. Once you have your colors, pick up the first color, hold it in your hand at the ready and go back to that state of oneness with your soul.

Close your eyes, breath, connect and ask your guides and angels for assistance. Invite them to reveal to you what shape to draw or paint with your first color. Once you have that shape begin your drawing. If nothing comes to you, just allow yourself to let go of what it might look like and gently move the color around the paper with no particular focus in mind until you feel its time to stop. Let go of judgment here. Go with the flow of energy and see what emerges.
soul rainbow painting7. Do this with each color.

8. When you finish your Soul Rainbow say thank you to your guides and angels for helping you and now ask them to guide you to interpret its meaning.

Use a journal or a separate piece of paper to write down the colors used. Underneath each color, detail the shapes, the meanings of both shapes and colors, and any messages that might come up for you too.
9. On completion again say thank you to your guides and angels, to the light and to your soul for working with you.

Your energy will have ballooned up to work psychically, so first cleanse your energy through by imagining you are standing under a spotlight of light and its luminescence is showering through your energy field. Now invite your aura to release the excess energy you’ve picked up into the earth. As you do this imagine the edges of your auric field drawing closer to your body.
Next, make an intention to reduce the dimensions of your chakras so they are back to normal size for you – this is something I always do, I go chakra by chakra, but your intention to close down will be just as effective.
Once you feel like you have come back to earth it’s time to ground yourself through your root chakra – feet – and at the same time make an intention to keep connected with the Divine through your crown chakra – head.
Finally, wrap yourself in a cloak of protection, whatever color feels right for you and place yourself in a bubble of light so that you are available and yet always protected.
Keep A Journal Of Your Soul Rainbows
Periodically tune in and go through this exercise again.Keep a journal of your Soul Rainbow images to map out the changes that occur within you. You might find the colors stay the same and it’s just the images that change. Even so, go through the interpretative part of the exercise, you may discover new meanings to those colors.

I would love to know how you get on tuning in, painting and interpreting your Soul Rainbow. Please share in the comments below and if you had any “A-Ha” moments.

You are a Mystic! You are a Mystic!

You are a Mystic

What does it mean to be a mystic?

To answer this question, some individuals imagine yogis sitting in meditation for hours on end or think of mystics as Christ-like people who have extraordinary powers to heal, predict the future, or travel to other realms. Though these are examples of mysticism, a mystic is simply “a person who seeks by contemplation and self-surrender to obtain unity with or absorption into the Deity or the absolute, or who believes in the spiritual apprehension of truths that are beyond the intellect.”

When we believe mysticism is reserved for a chosen few or for those willing to give up all earthly pleasures, we disconnect from our inner mysticism, which can be a powerful link to create the lives we desire. By discovering and embracing the mystic we were born to be, we align with authenticity, empowerment and joy.

Contemplation and Self-Surrender

Meditation can be a form of contemplation, but it is not the only path to unity consciousness. Many mystics use a variety of methods to surrender their egoic limitations and allow for absorption into the absolute. Yoga, spiritual study groups, conscious breathwork, fasting and dance are all valid actions a mystic can consciously utilize with intention to achieve a spiritual quest. Again, these are not the only methods one can use.

If your intention is to experience oneness, then do so in your daily endeavors. While washing dishes, become completely mindful of your task. Feel the plate, notice the soapy sponge as it makes contact to remove the grease, experience the heat of the water. Don’t limit yourself by believing a mystical experience of oneness with the Divine has certain qualities or wait for it to happen to you spontaneously. Instead, cultivate a practice of seeking oneness with the mundane tasks you perform each day. Allow absorption into the present moment.

As well, seek wonder. By opening yourself to the marvels that are ever-present, you release the walls that keep you confined to your smallness. Finding the awe in the things around you may seem to emphasize your smallness or minimize you to no-thing, but this is an essential shift in awareness. As you expand your perceptions to take in the wonder that exists in all things, you realize the vastness and wonder that is within you – the wonder that is you!

Star-gaze, sincerely hug a tree, notice your plants dancing softly with the wind, listen deeply to the sounds of birds in your yard, watch a squirrel capture an acorn, spend ten minutes snuggling with your dog. Though you can discover the wonder in anything, connecting with the forces of the natural world is not only pure and easy, it helps align you with your own natural state, which is inherently mystical.

Spiritual Apprehension of Truths

Intellectually speaking, we can get fixated on what truth really is, and formulate thoughts that lock us in to particular beliefs. Yet truth, like light, can be perceived, experienced, and even manipulated, but can never be grasped in the literal sense. Our mind finds comfort in understanding and containment, helping us feel sure, solid, safe. Mystics are willing to experience the discomfort of uncertainty as they seek truth.

The innocence of a child allows each experience or teaching to be taken in as some kind of truth. Through development, understanding and intellect begin to form the information received into perceptions. Discernment allows for rejection of information, whether based on truth or one’s perceptions. Yet, as fallible human beings, our perceptions can become distorted.  Therefore, the thoughts we believe may not be completely true. This is okay, unless they limit us, of course.

If you are experiencing limitation in your life, your move toward freedom begins with a shift in your perceptions. Most notably, the majority of your untrue perceptions are about yourself! You may even believe you are not a mystic! Whether or not you have consciously taken an oath to obtain unity with the absolute and if you believe in the spiritual apprehension of truths that are beyond the intellect, by definition, you are a mystic!

Your Definition of Mysticism

As you contemplate and surrender your smaller self to your Divine self, you discover the truth of who you actually are. In aligning with this truth, regardless of the intellectual knee-jerk reaction to find evidence against it, you connect with an essential power that helps sustain you in times of doubt or fear. Like any discipline, realizing your mysticism takes a conscious commitment. The path you choose does not matter; only that you place one foot in front of the other. The more you walk, the stronger you become.

With access to your mystical power, you become conscious of your perceptions, accept the authority in your choices, and ultimately realize you can define – or not define – what it means to be a mystic.

Are you ready to journey to your mystical self?

What Years Of Anxiety & Insomnia Taught Me About How To Effectively Deal With It

As I review posts on Facebook I am amazed by how many of my friends express their dissatisfaction with not being able to sleep at night, and then being tired during the day.

This is such a common complaint that an entire industry has grown out of it—not just in pharmaceuticals but also in the self-help area and in gadgets like audio or music sleep aids.

I am therefore moved to write about my own personal struggles in this area and to discuss what has helped me.

Before I continue I will caution you that as you read this you may react negatively to some of what I suggest. If possible just notice this reaction; try as much as you can not to “feed” it. It’s fine.

My Experience With Anxiety & Insomnia

So about me. Seven years ago I had panic attacks although I didn’t really know what they were. I sought and got some medication but I had continuous fatigue and spent many nights lying in bed wide awake, only to find myself exhausted the next day.

Since I didn’t want to depend on drugs, I tried other things, almost frantically. I used audio “beats” which did relax me and were probably the best of the external remedies. I also bought an expensive “light box” to alleviate my diagnosed “SAD” or seasonal affective disorder. None of this really worked, however, and I spent my days looking for more answers.

Of course I also saw my doctor, who was a no non-sense ex-marine still practicing into his 70’s who eschewed vitamins and any sort of faddish or pop medicine. He gave me some sleep aids but advised me, “Don’t worry, when your body needs to sleep, you’ll sleep, believe me.” This provided little solace, however, as I spent my days in perpetual fog and (take note of this) agitation about my condition.

Finally I had a few sessions with a friend and told them that my agitation was the worst in the morning, after I got up from a sleepless night and felt particularly awful. He asked me a very important question. He said, “What would happen if you knew that this would continue for the rest of your life?”

At first of course I was appalled by the prospect and I recoiled. But as I took it in I realized that I could either kill myself or just accept the situation for what it was. I would need to surrender.

I’m not going to tell you that I slept like a baby that night and my problem was solved. Far from it—my symptoms continued and I even went to acupuncture at one point. But Michael’s words sunk in and I remembered my doctor’s response and I began to consider the possibility of just accepting sleeplessness at night as part and parcel of my existence.

Michael also sort of “gave me permission” to take naps or lie down and rest when I felt tired. Up until then I tried to power through. At that time I also read Ram Dass’ book “Still Here” about aging, because I attributed a lot of my problems to reaching the age of 60 and Ram Dass talked about clients of his who spent a lot of time “lying around” and when they complained about it he told them that was normal and to just enjoy it.

Applying This To You

Okay, so now I know some of you are saying “but I have to go to work and when I get tired I’m at a desk and can’t take a nap.”  That is unfortunate and it makes it difficult but you can take a break, watch your breath, pull back and just accept the fact that you’ll have to finish the day tired.

You need to surrender to the reality of the situation. If this sounds familiar it is the essence of the teaching of Eckhart Tolle. And now here comes the “ah ha” moment – are you ready?

As you actually begin to pull back and accept the circumstances you may discover that it is not the fatigue that is the “problem.” The fatigue is there. It is what it is.

IT IS YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE FATIGUE THAT ARE THE PROBLEM.

Here Byron Katie’s work can be helpful when she asks, “Who would you be without that thought?” So right now your mind is screaming, “You’re damn right, I can’t stop thinking about how tired I am.” And of course this is what is happening at night when you are worried about not sleeping and the consequences that await you the next day.

There is only one possible solution. Let the mind scream. Love it for warning you about the consequences. But try to relax and watch it scream, like a baby that wants attention. It won’t be easy but begin to recognize that you have hit the wall. You are out of options.

In my case it would continue screaming at me about how unproductive I was in the morning. My work had slowed down and I wasn’t doing much of anything. This was exacerbating my unease. I was judging myself as a deadbeat and a failure. Slowly I began to recognize this pattern—my mind had a thought, I noticed it and believed it, I tried to “solve” what the thought suggested, and it led to a series of more and more frantic thoughts.

To get a brief glimpse about how wrong your word-based mind can be, consider this:

And it may finally become clear that the thoughts are simply not “true.”  They’re just thoughts.

As Eckhart Tolle suggests, when you begin to notice this you can talk back to the thoughts or just ignore them, and eventually laugh at them.

I have come to believe that the condition of actual insomnia is your body rebelling against the tyranny of the mind and reality itself trying to teach you a valuable lesson:  you are not and cannot be in control of everything—and possibly you have no real influence on anything (but that’s another story).

Suffice it to say that this relaxation in the face of a mind that has taken control through years of conditioning is a revelation. In fact, I believe as Eckhart Tolle suggests that it is precisely what Jesus meant by the “Kingdom of Heaven.”

The Power In Rebellion

A big step in this direction can be outright rebellion. When the phone rings don’t answer it. When a text comes in don’t look at it. When an email arrives don’t respond until some time passes. Again, do not expect results “overnight.” In fact, try not to expect anything. Try to just accept the circumstances as they arise. “Oh shit, I’m tired again” is sufficient. Try to rest. When you sleep, be grateful. If you lie awake next to a loved one be grateful.

If you lie awake next to someone annoying, try to change the circumstance. If you lie awake alone, don’t get into an inner dialog about being lonely and if only you had George Clooney or Kate Upton lying next to you. In fact, reflect upon how annoying the most attractive person you ever had there became when you were really tired.

And if possible, try to begin a daily meditation practice. The essence of meditation is noticing what is, and noticing that thoughts are just thoughts. And noticing the breath. And the space between thoughts. But this is key—don’t see any of these steps as a “solution” to a problem. The real problem is not the circumstances but your thoughts about them.

The circumstances are reality. Period.

You might also begin to see your thoughts as the rolling text in Times Square or the “crawl” under CNN or ESPN on TV.  Just let it continue to crawl and do the best you can. You may become surprised at how sweet it feels to discover that it’s just a bunch of pixels going across a screen.

And lastly, be kind to yourself and remember to breathe. But DON’T try to “learn how to breathe.” Just notice your breath as evidence that Life is going to do its thing, miraculously, with your nasty thoughts or without them.  It doesn’t give a shit.
